The Elachee Visitor Center will be closed December 24, 25, 26, 31 and January 1 for the holidays. The Chicopee Woods Hiking Trails will remain open daily.

Live Animal Exhibit
See 25 native Georgia reptile and amphibian species in curated habitats. Note: A Naturalist is on-site Saturdays to facilitate live animal encounters.

Discovery Room
Interactive exploration and play where young children (and parents) may learn about the Elachee monthly nature focus.

Discovery Backpacks
Available for check-out at the Elachee Visitor Center desk.

Demonstration Beehive
Witness a pollinator ecosystem at work and learn its importance in this interpretive exhibit.

Dodd Loop Self-Guided Trail
Interpretive signage informs your 0.64-mile hike among diverse forest and topography.

Outdoor Playspaces

  • Creation Station: find chalkboard, giant games, a kitchen and other toys in the service drive pavilion.
  • Fortlandia: build forts and structures with sticks along the trail accessed from the Wonderwall.
  • Healthy Hollow: enjoy tunnels, balance beams and logs at the group picnic area.

Ecology Exhibits
Study plants, identify tree species and view vibrant murals of winged Georgia pollinators.

Legacy Lodge
Journey through the geography, geology and history of the 1,440-acre Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve while learning about the origins of Elachee.

Bring Lunch
Enjoy our picnic area, the Nature Center patio or reading platform. Pack it in and pack it out.
