Flights of Fancy Fulfills Promise, and More

Oh, what a night!

May 6, the Elachee family of supporters, event sponsors and a score of new friends gathered for this magical evening on the patio of at Elachee Nature Science Center. Little did we know that at its conclusion we’d be collectively thinking, “Did that just happen?” Sponsors for the Flights of Fancy 2016 spring benefit and auction supporting Elachee Nature Science Center in Gainesville, GA

Flights of Fancy certainly lived up to its reputation.

This 16th annual spring benefit saw a capacity crowd enjoying sumptuous food and free flowing beverages. An eclectic array of donated nature-inspired art and outdoor entertaining items inspired lively competition among partygoers during the silent auction. That competition grew even more raucous during the live auction thanks to the engaging personality of auctioneer John Iodice. When it was all said and done, Flights of Fancy 2016 had raised over $52,000 for Elachee’s environmental education and conservation programs

But that was just an appetizer.

As the evening drew to a close, Elachee President/CEO Andrea Timpone announced a major program: starting in August, Elachee Nature Academy will offer an accredited Kindergarten-1st Grade program in addition to its Nature Preschool. An testimonial video gave guests a glimpse of the potential for this expanded program. Jim Walters then took the podium for an unprecedented Fund the Need appeal. When the proverbial dust settled, Elachee supporters had donated funding to cover year one start-up expenses!

On behalf of Elachee’s Board of Trustees, staff and each ‘next generation’ of Earth protectors we all nurture, we offer our most humble thanks!

Elachee is proud to acknowledge the dedicated volunteers and sponsors whose support made Flights of Fancy 2016 possible.
