Teachers in need of PLUs this summer should look no further than Elachee! Our staff is pleased to offer a new course, "Project WET, WILD & Adopt-A-Stream for Teachers." Participants in this 4-day course will earn 3 PLUs and take with them a variety of curricular, learning and instructional resources.

Projects WET and WILD provide curriculum guides that will equip teachers with an ample array of environmental education and multi-disciplinary activities that will complement their classroom instruction.

Adopt-A-Stream is perfect for teachers interested in providing students with citizen science-based experiences. Participants will learn to chemically and biologically assess streams, identify stream insects and submit data. Each will also receive a wealth of training resources.

The course will run from June 22-25, 2010. Each day will begin at 8:30 AM and conclude by 4:00 PM. Please pack a daily lunch and bring a pair of walking and wading shoes.

Call us at Elachee at (770) 535-1976 for additional details or to register for this fun and informative program.

Education Programs Keep Pace During Summer Months

Although 11 weeks of Camp Elachee will take up much of our institutional attention for the next fthree months, our education staff is primed and ready to provide summer programming for day cares, groups, scout troops, camps and home schools too.

Teachers and other group leaders can choose classes from our SACS-accredited curriculum. Popular summer choices include our planetarium program, "Seeing Stars", "Stream Life", "Dry Scales and Slimy Skin" and "Lake Lanier Aquatic Studies" program aboard the Chota Princess II floating classroom.

Our discounted summer program rates will apply again in 2010 and our outdoor classroom, the Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve, is unmatched. Bargain rates in a beautiful setting is hard to resist!

Please call us at Elachee (770) 535-1976 for additional information or to schedule the Elachee program of your choice at our special summer rates.

Post-Planning: A Great Opportunity to Schedule Your Elachee Programs for 2010-11
Scheduling popular Elachee programs like "Seeing Stars" during Post Planning saves time, money and energy for teachers and schools.

Our staff would like to congratulate teachers on the completion of another successful school year. But there is one more thing we would encourage you to do before you close your classroom door for the summer: schedule your 2010-11 Elachee program.

'Why?' you may ask.

Remember that all August, September, January and February Elachee programs are discounted 15%. Taking advantage of these savings by scheduling early makes the planning and logistics less daunting than trying to do the same in early August.

In a similar vein, January and February dates are popular months for planetarium programs so our astronomy calendar fills up quickly. Scheduling next year's "Seeing Stars" oR "Astronomy for Middle Schoolers" program now rather than later ensures that you and your students will receive one of Elachee's signature programs when you want it.

Since many teachers choose to schedule post-CRCT field trips, available late April and early May dates become scarce and prized commodities. Scheduling now eliminates the guesswork and worry.

All of us at Elachee hope that you enjoy your much deserved vacation. But why not take one item off next fall's "to-do" list? Call Elachee now at (770) 535-1976 to schedule the SACS-accredited program of your choice. You (and we) will be glad you did.

Thanks for your support of Elachee and its mission. For more information, please call (770) 535-1976, visit our website at www.elachee.org or become an Elachee fan on FACEBOOK.
